i have a latex allergy, can i still have sex with condoms? i have a latex allergy. i have to use latex-free band-aids and i can't get the meningitis shot because it has latex in it. what should i do?

prettygirl replied: "yes get the animal skin kind"

Ryan replied: "I'm sure they sell latex free ones."

sobo411 replied: "You have to get the 1's with no latex... obviously."

Smithy replied: "Sausage casing lol"

Vee replied: "Buy non latex ones, they are sold in the same place as normal ones."

Peny replied: "They have latex free condoms, you will have to use those."

Bunny-Wabbit replied: "You might enjoy sex with a man, better than sex with a condom"

Wendy ツ replied: "There are condoms without latex in them. You just have to find them. Otherwise, there are other ways of having protected sex you could look into, like the pill. Discuss this with your doctorr."

Jack replied: "Durex make some called Advanti I think that are latex free and very good"

Gregory replied: "You should use natural condoms. But remember natural condoms DO NOT protect you from HIV."

Jesus C replied: "TAKE IT IN DA @55? NO LATEX NO PREGNANCY WIN WIN =] AND HE'LL BE HAPPY 2"

xdefleshedx replied: "i was going to name them all for you.. but.. ill give you a link instead so you can check it all out on your own :) "

crazygurl98 replied: "well don't freak out any store that sells condoms they should sell latex free condoms so go to the store or ask they guy who u are having sex with to get the latex free condoms and make sure the condoms fit because if the condom slips off u could get pregnant so before t have sex ask the guy to try on the condoms first before u have sex okay"

ebears replied: "The animal skin ones are ok for birth control. But not for stopping viruses. The pores in the animal skin are too big to stop a virus. I know Durex makes vinyl condoms for people with a latex allergy. I have never tried them."

Irritated after sex- forgotten Latex allergy!? I had sex with my boyfriend last night for the first time. It didn't cause me any pain at the time, but after waking up this morning, I am very swollen and itchy down there. I've never been sexually active before so this isn't something that I've dealt with in the past. However I just started to remember....when I was 12 yrs old, I went to the allergist and had a full test of everything that I'm allergic to, and latex was one of them. Unfortunately I forgot about that last night before my boyfriend put a latex condom on. What can I do to make this swelling and itching go away? It's incredibly uncomfortable! Are there any creams or drugstore products that I could purchase to remedy this? I am so appreciative of everyone who's been answering! I've taken some Benadryl now and it is definitely relieving some of my pain. Unfortunately I'm still really swollen and red.

lilykdesign replied: "I'm so sorry, you must be so uncomfortable right now. You can buy vaginal creams at the drugstore, they're normally used for yeast infections but they work well for that kind of allergy."

Redshirt replied: "Benadryl should work, but read the packaging and possibly talk to a pharmacist to make sure that applying it to the inside of the vagina is safe."

EastIB replied: "If its an allergy, try benadryl"

Safiyya2 replied: "Take some Benedryl."

omgitsbritney replied: "go to the docotor. get a girl docotor. its more confortable. i had a guy doc. hes eww just get a girl"

rach replied: "Awwww, I'm allergic to latex too and that SUCKS!! :P First of all, let me tell you that Trojan makes polyurethane condoms called Supras. They are just as safe as latex and look almost the same - but they are thinner, they transfer heat, and they do not smell AT ALL! I love them. So now that latex condoms are out, look for Trojan Supras! Most drugstores carry them in the normal condom section (lol). And you can always take some Benadryl... take a cool shower and wash yourself down there to relieve the itching and swelling.. but definitely take Benadryl!!!"

txaggie2514 replied: "This actually happend to me too! Just wait it out. It will go away. It took mine about two days. Just for future references, try to buy the lamb skin ones at the store, they're more expensive, but hey, you won't swell up. Also, a lot of "rubbing" on eachother could cause it too. If it itches really bad, go to the girl's section, buy the tampons and condoms and there should be a vagisil box. It is made for itching. :)"

MissTT replied: "I got that same problem...try vagisil or yeast infection medications. Next time try non-latex condom, or a contraceptive foam, or a sponge."

andy t replied: "GET SOME ANTIHISTAMINE CREAM AND TAKE PIRITON"

mich replied: "for the future, Trojan makes Supras which are non latex, and Durex makes Avanti. Right now, shower, take a Benadryl and a nap, the medication will make you sleepy! Hope this helps"

if i had sex and my boyfriend used a latex condom, what would happen? i have a latex allergy. if me and my boyfriend had sex and used a latex condom by accident. what would happen?

♥Mini replied: "It depends on your body. If it's a severe allergy, you can get an infection. If it's minor, maybe an itch. You never want to test it, though. There are condoms out there that aren't made of latex."

Out of control replied: "You should never use anything you're allergic too."

gossip girl baybee replied: "hives or swelling of throat. use non latex condems=]"

forever 27 replied: "you will probably have an allergic reaction"

lil_fantasy85 replied: "Depends how bad your allergy is to latex. You might have swelling, redness, itching"

Lovely replied: "Since you have an allergy, fear the worst out of it because you don't want to risk any symptoms that can be troubling. Just avoid latex."

Can you be allergic to condoms but not have a latex allergy? I've never had a reason to believe I have a latex allergy, but last week I had sex (we used a condom) and right afterward my skin (vagina) was really irritated and now I have a yeast infection. It's been a long time since I've had sex, but I don't remember that problem. Could it be the brand? I think it was an off brand, it wasn't Trojan. Also, FYI I just started using the Nuvaring two months ago. Thanks

Gary B replied: "You could also be allergic to any lubrication used on the condom, and any spermicide, If the condom was made that way. It could also be that your timing was just right (or wrong . . .) and that you had sex just be freo the yeast infection flaired up, in whcih case the two things are not related."

renewilliams416 replied: "Its quite possible that you have gotten a yeast infection from the condom that you used."

♥Miss Conduct♥ replied: "The spermicide used in condoms gives most women yeast infections, some worse than others, but its pretty common for them to cause yeast infections."

Question about latex allergy? When I use latex band-aids I get a rash from it. If I use the cloth band-aids I don't have a problem though. My boyfriend and I have been talking about sex recently. Does this allergy mean I'll be allergic to latex condoms? And if I'm allergic will it cause irritation down there? Any alternatives?

Benjamin M replied: "they make fake latex condoms"

amy e replied: "there are alternatives. go to your towns pharmacy and talk to one of the pharmacists. they will know all the options and what you will likely have a reaction to, and what to do if you do have a reaction."

Pain during sex..allergic to spermicide? latex? help!? I've just recently started having sex with my partner (month or so) and it has been less than pleasurable. When we have sex, my vaginal walls hurt really bad, like its dry and burning. I am usually pretty wet so I don't think the problem has to deal with lubrication. Days after, I itch and feel like I have a uti or yeast infection, but it goes away. I thought I had a latex allergy but when we started having sex without a condom it felt fine. When he put it on it started to hurt. He put on more lube and then it burned like hell. I know a lot of females complain about itchy and burning on the outside of their vagina, but mines on the inside mostly. Could this mean I'm allergic to spermicide? Can spermicide allergies cause pain on the inside? I should probably see a gyno..but I'm 20 and my mom doesnt know im sexually active..how can i get around that? sorry so many questions! thankss

REBELLYNN replied: "At 20 your mom doesn't need to know your business. Your MD is not allowed to discuss your medical business unless you want them to because you are over 18. You should have started female checkups at the start of menstruation. It sounds like an allergy. Could be the lube, some of those aren't hypoallergenic. Spermicides have been known to cause major reactions. Time to find a new birth control method. good luck."

lvgdedgrl replied: "Try using a non latex condom, it sounds like your allergic and as far as burning with lube/spermicides your vaginal wall hasn't had time to heal so it's like pouring lemon juice on a fresh cut.. ouch!! good luck."

hailey22307 replied: "Okay.. Finally someone else like what i have. It is a urinary tract infection. I had this problem every time I have sex. Finally i said ya know what im gonna go to the dr. Turns out i have a very bad uti. THere are several types, its not just burning when you pee, I have the kind where you get vaginal dryness and your insides feel very itchy. Its totally common. I would recommend getting cranberry vitamins, they are once a day pills but they work WONDERS! Also, go to your dr and they will give you these pills that will make your vagina feel all better and sex will get enjoyable again I promise =) Andd don't feel embarrased at all, I get these types of infections every 2 weeks!! =)"

Courtney M.P. replied: "I am allergic to latex and it is a lot like what you are explaining... it is a sensitive area so the allergy seems to be worse. I am also allergic to multiple lubes, if you think you are having allergies always put the lube on another area of skin before use, better to need to wash a hand or mouth than other areas without killing the mood completely. The only thing you can do is take it if you are not on the pill and with a partner who you KNOW is clean. Loads of plain KY, very gentle on most skin! You can try a benadryl, but it never helped for me since it is contact dermatitis in a very bad location. Shop products and there are latex free condoms available from what I understand they are not quite as good as a latex, but still get the job done. Shop your products and generally get accustomed to buying the more expensive brands. You don't need to say anything to your mother. If you are using a family doctor that you are uncomforatable with look up planned parenthood in your area. Remember that you medical information should not be shared with anyone who you have not signed a release for so your regular doctor should be fine for help if you want professional consultation. "

Brandy A replied: "im allergic to latex and i had the same symptoms. Use latex free condoms. but be careful they are really only for preventing pregnancy not STDS also.... spermicide can make you dry and cause yeast infections.."

Is this signs of latex allergy to condoms? OK like two nights ago I had sex. We used a condom, it started out with just a mild itch now my vaginal track is swollen. The last time I had sex we used a condom as well and I only had itching but this time it seems alot worse. I'm afraid I'm allergic to the condoms.

Joy replied: "It sounds like you may be. They sell non-latex condoms, so I suggest purchasing some of those and seeing if it makes a difference."

cutiepie xx replied: "Well my mates mam is allergic to latex and she swells up and starts itching. Go to your GP and ask him/her about what happens if you are and fine more information about it. If you are your GP will tell you all about what you can use and other things. Hope this helps x x"

How can you tell if you are allergy to latex condoms? After sex with my husband with condoms i feel itchy, if we do it without I don't. What else ca i use.

links305 replied: "SHEEP SKIN CONDOMS OR OTHER NON LATEX CONDOMS"

jason a replied: "itmight not be the condom's,,,, it coudl be the lube on them, try another brand first,"

toocute22 replied: "its hard for someone to be allerfy to latex...but you should ask your doctor."

hollisterchick044 replied: "ya you dfintaly would want to get that cheked out man"

sandywhistleflip replied: "IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU DO HAVE AN ALLERGY TO THE CONDOMS. WHY ARE YOU USING CONDOMS WITH YOUR HUSBAND?? YOU COULD GO ON THE PILL, SEX WITH NO CONDOMS AND NO RISK OF GETTING PREGNANT."

spriege replied: "Well that has happened with me . I was using Durex and it gave me the only irritation and every time I had to use the bathroom (pee) I would get this sting feeling. I then used Cystex which is a pill that relieves urine irritation or any irritation in the vaginal area, and I washed my area with hot not steaming though just hot enough to wash my area, and now I just use Trojan .. I wont use anything else.."

tyto2820 replied: "Do you notice any other allergy to latex? Elastic in clothing, for example or when you handle elastic bands. It's certainly worth experimenting to see if it is the lubrication. Check with your doctor or chemist to see if there are other alternatives."

michellesue1979 replied: "Use a latex free condom...made from sheep skin. It could be the lubricant on the condom too though, if you have the non-oxydol 9...that can sometimes cause itching and an allegic reaction. If when you get done with sex and you go and wash real good, that sometimes relives the problem. I would try a NATURALAMB® brand condoms are different from a latex condom because they are made from a natural membrane. You’ll find they have their own special feeling of sensitivity. good luck!"

kirstinlilloth replied: "I also have a severe latex allergy. If you're looking for another contraceptive and don't want to use foam, gels, birth control pills... you can try using a couple of alternative condoms if you're allergic to latex. The female condom, called Reality.. or the male polyurethane condom, Avanti."

Developing Latex Allergy? So lately after we have been having sex and the day after I have been a little itchy and it burns a bit down there. I started thinking it was a yeast infection so I was going to use Monistat. Then i started my period so i wasn't able to use the Monistat. After my period and a week of my boyfriend and me not having sex the itching and burning went away. Then we had sex again and it started itching and burning again. It has never bothered me before but is it possible to develop a latex allergy randomly? Or could it be the lubricant from the condom?

Lizzy replied: "over exposure to a latex can cause allergy. get a latex free condom and if it doesnt go away, see a doctor."
